Spectrum Math Workbook, Grade 1 (Carson Dellosa)
My daughter is a great reader. Math is not her strongest suit.
Last year she had a math workbook she worked out of every day, and it helped. This year the school is sending reading home and no math book. So I went looking for one. This is the one I decided on.

If you want the details, here they are.
I compared the ones parents and teachers recommend most: Spectrum, Brain Quest, School Zone Big Math, Math Mammoth, and Math with Confidence.
Spectrum is the closest thing to the workbook a school sends home. Clear pages, one skill at a time, an answer key in the back. It lines up with what a first-grade class actually covers: addition and subtraction, place value, fact families, shapes, and measurement.
Open the Look Inside preview on Amazon and match it to where your kid is right now. There is a pretest at the start of each chapter that helps with that. Ten to twenty minutes a page is about right.
Brain Quest Math 1st Grade is the fun one: stickers, a progress map, activities instead of rows of problems. School Zone Big Math 1-2 is the most pages for the money. Math Mammoth and Math with Confidence are the ones homeschool parents swear by, and they ask more of you as the teacher.
